Puppy scams are unfortunately a reality in New Zealand, and Kiwis are not exempt from this issue. If you join any dog lover’s Facebook group, you’ll likely come across discussions about these scams. Additionally, puppy mills pose a significant challenge in New Zealand. While you may receive a puppy for your investment, many of these animals are raised in conditions that lack humane treatment.
These backyard breeders mentioned above look like they are running a puppy mill with little regard for their dog’s wellbeing and even less regard for people they sell them to.
Personally I would stay clear – look for the reputable breeders
