Puppy scams are unfortunately a reality in New Zealand, and Kiwis are not exempt from this issue. If you join any dog lover’s Facebook group, you’ll likely come across discussions about these scams. Additionally, puppy mills pose a significant challenge in New Zealand. While you may receive a puppy for your investment, many of these animals are raised in conditions that lack humane treatment.
The issue of poor breeding practices and health conditions is prevalent. Numerous puppy mills in New Zealand produce a large number of dogs without adhering to ethical standards or breed guidelines. As a result, many puppies inherit genetic health problems, which can include heart issues, dental complications, autoimmune disorders, eye problems, and skin conditions.
Moreover, there appears to be a genetic tendency towards behavioural issues, such as extreme shyness or fearfulness. While some of these behavioural challenges can stem from their environment, a growing number of dogs from puppy mills seem to exhibit ingrained behavioural problems.
These backyard breeders mentioned above look like they are running a puppy mill with little regard for the dog’s wellbeing or for people they sell them to.

Pure bred frenchies don't come in blue or Merle so must be cross bred and won't be nzdogs registered. Expensive for a cross bred dog when you can buy a show quality pure bred showing 6 generations of experienced breeding.
👎the only reason you breed outside the breed standard is for MONEY Not to breed the best dogs you can not for the good of the breed.

Personally I would stay clear - look for the reputable breeders on this page - reach out to us if you have any questions. Please ensure wherever you go, you ask whether parents have at the minimum been health tested (as in DNA, Spine and hips xrayed) - even some breeders on here do not xray. By ensuring this, you know your pup will have a better chance knowing the parents hips and spines have been scored. Make sure your pup will be registered with Dogs New Zealand and not MDBA registered
So many problems since I got my dog off these people. Looking forward to hearing other reviews.
